...

{via}

This week has felt very long, probably because I've been worrying so much. My mum has been very sick and it has really scared me. But she's getting better and the Easter holiday is here, so today we are traveling to see some friends and my boyfriend's family. I forgot my camera home and am bummed about it but no can do - there won't be any pics taken by me until we get back on Saturday. I am planning to post some inspirational photos (taken by others) arranged by Easter-related colors, but we'll see what I have time for. See you soon!

An Empty House

Sometimes it's nice to be home alone.
Especially, if it isn't your home.
Today I'm wandering around
my parent's house
and spotting details.

Hot, Hotter, Super Hot

Things I miss at the moment:
- winter
- hair conditioner
- ice cream
- (the) boyfriend
- shower

Read between the lines:
I've been at a summer cottage with my family for few days now. It's boiling hot, so I think about snowflakes and ice a lot. Our water pump is broken, so I've been washing my hair in a lake lately. And ice cream, well is there someone who doesn't miss ice cream all summer time?

Books and Birds and Books of Birds

I am not the only collector in the family. These stuffed birds and animals belong to my father and are just a part of his collection. Inspired by A Collection a Day I played with the tough I could sometime document his collections. As an ornithologist, collector and bibliophile he would have lots of interesting stuff to photograph.

When I was little I once asked my dad how many books he had. He said he had no idea, so I started counting them. I lost count during the first shelfful, there were to many of them. "It's not worth counting them, I don't need the figure", my dad said. "All I need to know is that there can't be too many."

Home

I cried with my mother
(and it made me feel better).

I sat in the dark
(Earth Hour).

I slept in my sister's bed
(she wasn't visiting this weekend).

And I wore my little brother's woolen socks for the whole weekend
(that 14-year-old has bigger feet than I do).

It was a good visit.

Oh, hello

Here I am again.
Relaxed and full of beans.
Ready to start a new week
(actually started working with school stuff at 8am today)
and get out again.

Nothing special happened within the weekend.
My dad had three new stuffed birds though
(every time I visit he has built up the collection at least with one new)
which my mum hated, as usual.
My sister was there too
(The distance between our apartments is 3 kilometers
but usually we see each other at our parent's place,
150 kilometers away)
and my bros were as teenagers as possible.
Home, sweet home.

As they aren't paying me anything for working here...

I got an email from my father this morning. Cause he uses the same template for every message (from invoices to business letters and forwarding family information) the message looked very official. There was a long signature with his full name, a long status, full address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address. All this took eight rows.

The actual message took one:
Hi, how much money do you need? Love, dad

This very simple message with so much irrelevant information made me laugh out loud. I had to explain my reaction for a bypassing colleague, who asked why I am so happy this morning. He, as a father, said that dads always know when their kids need them, they just don't need so many words to express themselves. That may be true. And I know he's there for me even when I need something else than money. Even though he wouldn't know how to say it.

I'm still smiling.
