Sugar, No Spice

A couple of years ago we both read the book La libellule se ses huit ans by Martin Page. Apparently the book was never translated to English, I read the Finnish translation as I don't know any French. Anyway, in the book there's an episode where the main character offers tea to her guest. She doesn't put any sugar on the table but just says "I hope you're not one of those idiots who put sugar in their tea".

And here's the thing: I put a lot of sugar in my tea, I never have my tea without it. So when we drink tea my boyfriend often repeats the line of that character from the book. And every time I answer "No, I'd just like to have some tea in my sugar".

My boyfriend then, well, if somebody offers him sugar with his tea or coffee he always says "No thank you, I'm sweet enough without it".

Well, that was a little story of my life.
Whether it interests anyone, I have no idea.
I just felt like telling it.

What?

I haven't written anything in this blog for two months and still have got some new followers. That doesn't make any sense, but sure is awesome. Thank you, you made me give this blog another try. I had almost decided to let it go and start something new. That might still happen some day, but not today. Today I'm here with you.

I'll try not to have such breaks in the near future, but cannot promise anything. Sometimes you just lose the inspiration, you know. And sometimes it returns and you feel fresh again.

Love,
Miss Notebook

P.S. I love you.
P.P.S. My brownie looks like that cause my boyfriend finds it entertaining to start cutting things from the middle. If he eats pizza (with fork and knife, not with hands), he cuts a round hole in the middle and starts eating from there. If he eats ice cream from the container, he starts spooning it right from the middle. Usually it makes me crazy, but this time I could not be mad. Someone giving you a brownie heart is too cute to be mad at.

I do not care what the world thinks anymore

- I love you, you know that?
- Yes, yes I know. But when I feel bad I start to think
I am ugly and fat, and therefore you cannot really love me.

- You are beautiful and fat, and I so love you.

Somehow this made me feel better.
Maybe it is finally time to be proud of myself the way I am.

I love you because...

...you are silly. And not afraid to show it.
You make me laugh, even when you're not here.
Like today, when I found your shopping list under the microwave oven.
I have no idea why it was there, but even bigger mystery is the third thing on the list.
It might be a bit hard to find it from our corner shop, but I'll try my best tomorrow.

See, the list looked like this:
-ketchup
-milk
-little squirrels

Morning Dialogues, part 2

- What's the time?
- Wait... *turns to see the clock*
- Shouldn't women have a biological clock or something?
In that case you shouldn't have to turn.
- Oh yes, and my biological clock says 'baby'...
- !!
- ...But our alarm clock says twenty past eleven.

Hair and Sarcasm

- Good Morning, little cat.
- Morning.
- What's the time?
- Ten past ten.
- What are cats?
- Meow?
- Wrong. They are full of hair and sarcasm.

Gummy Bears and Others

It's Bearday today! A weekly, Friday-based holiday meant for celebrating all kinds of bears and bear-like creatures. Surprise surprise, this was originally an idea of my boyfriends, also known as the bearrorist. But I think it was an awesome idea, and as long as we have Caturday (the holiday for catty ones like me), we need something special for the bears too.

And, therefore the special Friday cake I was talking about earlier was designed as a Bearday-cake today. It is a chocolate cake coated with vanilla cream and soft cheese (actually not going together that well but hey, who cares? It's a cake.) And decorated with some gummy bears, of course.

P.S. If you want to see related earrings, check out ikomi!
P.P.S. It's Caturday soon!

Fashion Authority

- I like your t-shirt.
- Which one?

- *sigh* The one you're wearing right now.
- But I'm wearing two at a time.
- No you're not. That other one is a tunic. Or a toucan. Or whatever. Anyway, I don't like it.

I like you too

- You know... I like you.
- Oh, I've heard a rumor.
- I like you a lot. - So much I wouldn't trade you for even a big nut sac a big bag of peanuts.
- Not even for a huge one?
- Nope.
- Oh, you must like me a lot then.

EDIT: My boyfriend asked me to reconsider my words so no-one would misunderstand what he was trying to say. I guess this is like that time when I told one guy I can joggle with two balls without realizing how it sounded like in English. I guess he's still laughing at me. But hey, if you have a dirty mind, isn't it just your problem?

Socks and Toes

No excuses:
I just love feet shots.
Here are my two recent favourites.

So, this is me right after getting up,
pic taken yesterday morning.

And this is him sleeping after the night shift,
pic taken yesterday afternoon.
(He didn't wake up when I took it.)

Sweet Dreams are Made of These

I've been told I look catty and furious when I'm asleep. Like I wouldn't want to be disturbed. And if I am disturbed and woken up, I'm snappy and don't like to be hugged for a long time. I just turn away and continue sleeping. I don't do it consciously, but that's the way I act.

My boyfriend is my opposite. I'm always welcomed under his arm when he's asleep, and he can even stroke me unconsciously when sleeping. And he smiles a lot. Sometimes he even laughs out loud when he has a nice dream. Sometimes I wake up because of that, and it's the nicest way to wake up I know.

Now, good night.
I'm off to look (for a change) unconsciously catty.

There's a crack in my (lollipop-) heart

"I lollipop you too", he said when he saw my message on the table.
Cause he didn't want to eat my heart,
(mostly cause he doesn't like lollipops, I guess)
I had to do the bittersweet part of removing this love note
so I could use the table for reading the paper.
It was yummy though.

Still Pretty in Pink

- You smell like garlic.
- Like I would come and tell how you smell like!
- How do I smell like then?
*sniffing for 10 seconds or so*
- Just...pink.

Good ways to love me

- Making me a sandwich when I don't expect it
- Leaving a box of sparkles on the table when you leave for work
- Adoring my little oddities (like collecting rocks)
- Complimenting my hair with "I love it, it makes you look like a manga character"
- Tasting like sweeties when you kiss me
- Letting me take a nap in your arms
- Encouraging my creativity
- Playing our song once in a while with high volume so neighbors can hear it too
- Smiling a lot
- Letting me steal your jumpers when my own clothes don't look good with my new hair color, and not being angry at all when I forget to return them to the closet (I wish you read this one before I come home this evening wearing your jumper...)

I'm not a slut, I'm a punk

On Saturday we were spending the night with my boyfriend's friends. Just talking and drinking and hanging out. At some point we were playing Alias, the game where you have to explain the words to your partner. At that round everyone had right to guess, so I tried to explain the words so that only my boyfriend could understand them.

At that night I was wearing a skirt and two pairs of stockings. Bright orange ones, and then black fishnets on the top of them. The orange ones were too bright to wear just with themselves (I felt like an exclamation mark), and wearing only fishnet stockings in -10 Celsius isn't the choice for winners. Not that I would have done it anyway, cause some way they make me feel a bit too slutty. Even though punks use them as well, and I have no problems being considered as a punk. That's why I was wearing my Dr Martens with them.

Anyway, earlier my bf had made a joke about my stockings asking if I was going to go fishing with my nets. And I answered that sure, we didn't really have any breakfast at home, so I would have to get some - with fishing, if there weren't any other ways. Later that night, during the game where this whole story started, I had to explain the word FISHERMAN. So, I thought it would be an easy one, and said "you called me that earlier tonight because I'm wearing nets."

Two of the three men in that room (including my boyfriend) yelled at the exactly same time: "A WHORE!"

I have to say I was a bit surprised (and snappy) of their way of association, but I guess that just revealed what men really think. And therefore I feel it might be the best not to be asking him "can I go out dressed like this?" anymore. Next time you see my fishnets I will be wearing a "Punk's not dead" - t-shirt and a safety pin in my nostril with them. Not that it would be the way punks do it, but I guess even these men could get the hint then.

A Piece of Advice

- Just remember not to do anything stupid.
- Like what?
- Like...get a crush on the wrong girl.
- So I can get a crush on the right girl then?
- Oh yes, as long as you remember that I'm the one and only right one.

Waiting for Christmas #24

Two years ago we stood
in front of the cathedral, under the Christmas tree.
I looked up, all those little lamps shining in the dark night.
"It's beautiful", I whispered.
"You're beautiful", he said and kissed me.
I didn't know him yet,
but I knew I would love him.

I wish you a very merry Christmas
with lots of beautiful memories
for years to come.

Moustache-Monday

This mirror is a birthday present from my boyfriend.
I placed it in our bedroom, on the window sill.
From now on it can make me laugh every morning
when I open the curtains and have a look outside.
Next to it lives a b-day present from Soph.

(In case you can't read the text: it says
"make the same mistake twice".)
